Entrepreneurship is essential for survival: Dr Guti

YOUTHS have been encouraged to be vigilant and take advantage of the available resources in the country to forge their destiny than leave the country for the 'so called' greener pastures, abroad.

Delivering the Keynote speech at the ongoing Research, Innovation, Industrialisation and Entrepreneurship Week (RIIEW), in Bindura, today, Professor L. Kambizi, who spoke on behalf of the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) Chancellor, Dr Joseph Guti implored youths to dig-deep and become Entrepreneurs of note.

"Entrepreneurship is no longer optional. It is essential for the survival of youths.

"Running to neighbouring countries, Europe and America for greener pastures, is no longer an option.

"We are advancing for job creators. Let's not be down trodden because we have universities like ZEGU that are advancing the entrepreneurial agenda," said Dr Guti.

However, he implored students to be united and collaborate with like-minded people or institutions so as to develop and grow, while also imploring the ZEGU management to engage industry.

"In a community like Zimbabwe, opportunities are plenty. However, let's not operate in silos.

"To students, you are not the future of tomorrow, but leaders of today. Be bold, collaborate, dream big and work even harder.

"I would like to commend the leadership of ZEGU. Keep investing in innovation, entrepreneurship and keep investing in relations with industry, and research," added Dr Guti.

Delegates were treated to a tour of innovations made by students on the sidelines.

ZEGU's RIIEW is a five (5) day event running from the 4th - 5th August 2025 at the university's main campus in Bindura.

The ZEGU 2025 RIIEW is running under the theme: "From Concepts and Ideas to Innovation Models and Artefacts: Engraining Sustainable System Development Holism and Deep Entrepreneurship".
