Joel 2:21,24-26 KJV

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

— Joel 2:21,24-26 KJV

Biblically, restoration means bringing something back to its original state. As we explore this powerful message, we discover that restoration is not just a concept but a divine promise that touches every area of our lives.

1. God Restores Us From Our Old Sinful Self

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.

— Ephesians 1:7 KJV

The first type of restoration happens when God restores us. God restores us from the old sinful self to a new person. A fake status is when you are without Christ. God restores us to our original status from the fake status.

  • Before we were redeemed, we were not only in darkness but we were also darkness.
  • We were aliens before being born again (Ephesians 2:19).
  • You need to know who you are!
  • God delivered us from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of His Son Jesus Christ (light).
  • We are now fellow citizens and partakers of the Kingdom of God.

2. Restoration is Getting Something That Was Lost

And as for thine asses that were lost three days ago, set not thy mind on them; for they are found.

— 1 Samuel 9:20 KJV
  • We are going to locate our assignments and our purpose. God will make sure we get awareness of it.
  • We are here for divine encounters and divine circumstances!
  • We must not worry about anything; rather, we must say we are covered by the blood of Jesus.
  • We will not be lost because restoration is our portion!

3. Restoration is Reversing the Damage Without Faking the Original

If it please the king, and if I have favour in his sight, and the thing seem right before the king, and I be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman.

— Esther 8:5 KJV
  • When restoration has come, satanic letters and words are reversed!
  • We must let the will of God be revealed and manifested in our lives, then the satanic letters in our lives will be reversed.
  • Every issue we are facing doesn't require our mothers or fathers; it requires God.
  • We must believe God because what is impossible with man is possible with God. All things are possible with God!
  • Restoration is your portion. Restoration is coming!

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

— John 10:10 KJV

Some have lost hope and a lot of things in life, but restoration comes with a change of story.

4. Restoration Means Recovering Something That Was Stolen

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.

— Luke 4:18 KJV
  • When restoration comes, we begin to recover what was stolen from us (happiness, good health, peace, righteousness, etc.).
  • Recovery has been ushered into our lives!
  • You've cried because of heartbreak, betrayal, and maltreatment, but the Lord has come to restore everything!

And David enquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I overtake them? And HE answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.

— 1 Samuel 30:8 KJV
  • It is no longer a season of weeping and crying; time has come to encourage yourself that there is hope to live.
  • Some situations need us to encourage ourselves that things will work out for us because we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
  • We have to look unto Jesus, not our friends and people surrounding us.
  • We need to tell ourselves that everything is well. We must not fear because the Lord will do great and mighty things for us!
  • We shall pursue, overtake, and recover!
  • God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above everything we ask for!

The Army of the Lord

A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth.

— Joel 2:2-3 KJV
  • This scripture speaks about a great day that was going to come.
  • We are not ordinary believers; we are soldiers of Jesus Christ, an army that God is raising!
  • As children of God, whenever we walk, there is fire in front of us and behind us. We are a generation of fire.
  • No wicked person or wickedness can come in front of you and behind you because you carry the fire of God!

They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks.

— Joel 2:7 KJV
  • We are surrounded, heavenly protected by chariots of fire, angels of fire, and a God of fire.
  • We serve a God who is interested in our protection!
  • The army of God does not compete; it complements.
  • There is no need for competition; we must complement each other. No one can take another's place because there is plenty of room for everyone.

The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: And the Lord shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

— Joel 2:10-11 KJV
  • The fear we have of the things we see and experience is a result of not realizing what we have and carry.
  • We are led by the voice of God, and that is a characteristic that separates and distinguishes us from the people of the world (unbelievers).
  • The voice of the Lord should guide your career, your family, and everywhere you go.
  • The voice of the Lord should tell you where to go, where to invest, what to say and do, and how to answer an exam question!

Fear Not, For God Will Provide

Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the Lord will do great things.

— Joel 2:21 KJV
  • We must not fear because God will divinely provide for us.
  • God changes things; He is a disrupter of negative things!
  • God does not operate in an area that we do not believe Him to operate. If we believe that He will do it, He will do it.
  • Do not limit God to your pocket!
  • We need to rejoice because God is about to do great and mighty things in our lives!

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

— Jeremiah 33:3 KJV

The things that we know are not the things that God wants to do for us. He wants to do great and mighty things that we have not seen in our lives.

The Abundance of Wheat, Wine, and Oil

And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.

— Joel 2:24 KJV

1. Wheat Represents the Word of God for Direction

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

— Psalms 119:105 KJV
  • The word of God shall be abundant in our lives; we shall not lack direction.
  • Let us eat the word of God because the journey is long; let us eat the word to have the compass of life!

1b. Wheat Also Means Prosperity in God

For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.

— Genesis 37:7-8 KJV
  • There shall be abundance in your life from now till you leave this earth.
  • We shall have the keys to the solutions needed by society!

2a. Wine Represents the Blood of Jesus

This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

— John 2:11 KJV
  • Wine represents the protection of the blood (Revelation 12:11).
  • The power of the blood of Jesus shall be around us.

2b. Wine Also Means Influence

  • If you're full of wine, you become a person of influence.
  • You'll cause fruitfulness where there is dryness!

3a. Oil Represents the Holy Spirit for Effectiveness

But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

— Psalms 92:10 KJV
  • Oil makes us effective ministers in our professions.
  • We shall not lack oil in our professions.
  • We need the fresh oil of God to be upon our heads for us to be effective in our positions and status!

I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him.

— Psalms 89:20 KJV
  • Fresh oil is for fresh encounters; Holy oil comes to make you sacred.
  • When you carry the Holy oil, you are not troubled by demons. Whenever dark forces try to destroy you, they catch fire!
  • No weapon will prevail against your life because you carry the Holy oil!

3b. Oil Also Means an Overflow

Oil represents abundance and overflow in every area of our lives.

Restoration From the Root

And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

— Joel 2:25 KJV

That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten.

— Joel 1:4 KJV
  • Restoration does not start from the surface; it addresses the root from where the problem began.
  • Things seem the same in your life because there are locusts in your life which are consuming the things in your life. This is why when you're prayed for one thing and receive healing, you start suffering from another thing because your restoration did not start from the root cause of the problems.
  • What you lost during your childhood will be restored; it has to be restored before the restoration of the things you lost as an adult.
  • When God is about to restore, He goes back to your childhood experiences and starts restoring you from there to your current self!
  • We are victims of a broken society. Many waves have come into our lives (cyclones, pandemics like COVID-19). God is restoring the time wasted because of those waves, sicknesses, and some circumstances.
  • We must rejoice in our tribulation because God's strength is sufficient for us, and our restoration is coming!

Restoration is Meant for Us to Enjoy Life

Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

— 1 Timothy 6:16 KJV
  • Restoration is meant for us to enjoy life.
  • God richly gives us all things for us to enjoy life!
  • Joy shall be our portion!
  • The joy of the Lord is there to push us to the next level.

And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.

— Joel 2:26 KJV

We shall never be ashamed because restoration is our portion. God is bringing complete restoration to every area of our lives—spiritually, physically, emotionally, and financially. This is our season of divine restoration!
