IN its efforts to develop a total person, the ZEGU students' body teamed up with colleagues from the Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) and Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT), respectively, for a meaningful field trip and donation drive at Matthew Rusike Children's Home, in Harare.
The visit embodies Education 5.0's pillars of Teaching, Research, Community Service, Innovation, and Industrialization.
Students got a hands-on feel of the environment beyond the classroom and applied their knowledge in real-world community engagement as they toured the home's sustainable projects in gardening, piggery, poultry, and plastic recycling.
The experience also resonates deeply with ZEGU's mantra of "Developing a Total Person and Promoting Entrepreneurship."
Through a hands-on interaction, students nurtured not only academic skills but also compassion, teamwork, leadership, and a spirit of service, qualities that shape well-rounded, impactful citizens.
The association (Chasing Children Dreams) made a generous donation to support the children's welfare with clothing, food, refreshments and toiletries, among other key basic needs.
This initiative reaffirms the Chasing Children Dreams Association's commitment to creating hope and supporting vulnerable children.
ZEGU students were drawn from the Faculty of Heritage, Humanities and Societal Advancement (Level 4.2 Development Practitioners and Social Workers), who joined hands with the Chasing Children Dreams Association, an association formed by students at the institution.
