THE recent educational trip to the Frontline Institute Zimbabwe (FIZ), in Shamva, by students from the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) is more than a reflection that the institution's adoption of the Second Republic's game changer, Education 5.0 that promotes bridging the gap between theory and practice, through transformation of ideas into tangible matter, is in full swing.

Hosted by Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Zimbabwe, the visit aimed to foster practical learning, networking, and collaboration between academic institutions and humanitarian organizations.

The tour was designed into a hybrid-like fashion, as students , FIZ and DAAP officials were later grouped to tackle interesting topics that include Youth Engagement in Humanitarian Solutions; Beyond the Degree: Future-Ready Skills; The Power of Networks: No Graduate Stands Alone; Graduates as Change Agents and Ethics, Leadership and Service, and Networking, as the icing on the cake.

One of the organisers and Lecturer, who accompanied the students, Mr. Takudzwa Chidembo gave thumps up to the university (ZEGU) for allowing students an opportunity to widen their horizons in a fast-changing socio-economic environment.

"Such experiential learning not only reinforces academic knowledge, but it also prepares students to be proactive change agents in society, equipped with the skills to address real humanitarian challenges, while pursuing sustainable careers," said Chidembo.

Students from the Faculty of Heritage, Humanities and Societal Advancement and those in Part 4.2 of the Social Work and Development Studies programme represented the university.
