ZEGU FACULTY OF LAW – COUNCIL FOR LEGAL EDUCATION INSTITUTIONAL ASSESSMENT VISIT

On 17th October, 2025 ZEGU’s Faculty of Law had the privilege to host Councilor Mhishi from Council for Legal Education, a key Stakeholder in the development of future legal minds for the development of our nation and beyond.

Notable improvements acknowledged by CLE was that the Law Faculty has reverted to its inception status of being a stand-alone Faculty and thus conforming to its accreditation status. Councilor Mhishi also commented the University for its e-resources which are easily accessible to the key Stakeholders, the students through the provision of fast and efficient Internet connectivity from StarLink.

Areas for consideration were expansion of the Legal Aid Clinic’s scope to cover most if not all Procedural Law Modules to equip students with requisite practical and clinical skills in the dispensation of justice and legal education to all. Another issue he raised was the general concerns of the market regarding the graduates released not only from ZEGU’s Faculty of Law but all Law Schools within this jurisdiction and beyond. He urged us to explore ways of improving Modula Teaching and Learning for maintenance of standards and quality of our law graduates.
