ZEGU Rhinos Present Credentials

REIGNING university rugby champions of the motherland, ZEGU Rhinos, presented their credentials to the Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Hon. Christopher Magomo on the backdrop of a successful campaign at the 2025 Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) Games, in Kenya where the team scooped Silver.

Congratulating the Rhinos and ZEGU executive delegation led by Vice-Chancellor, Professor Innocent Chirisa, at his offices in Bindura, yesterday, Hon Magomo paid tribute to the team's effort.

"I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to the team, the coaching staff and the university's leadership for the remarkable achievement. Congratulations for lifting the flag of the province on the continental stage.

"Today we are celebrating an outstanding milestone from our province. Continue to shine as a center of academic and innovative excellence, a reflection of the Second Republic which seeks to build a prosperous environment," said Hon Magomo.

Addressing delegates at the occasion, ZEGU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Innocent Chirisa was 'delighted' to present the Rhinos to the Hon Magomo given their achievements at a grand stage.

"...This afternoon, Honourable Minister, we are quite delighted because these boys that you see, represented the country in Kenya because they had showcased themselves as champions within the nation.

"They won gold medal in this nation, which was the passport for them to go out there. We are happy that they brought the trophy that we are going to present to you," said Prof. Chirisa.

Clad in their colourful blue and red jerseys, medals and trophy, the Rhinos rubbed shoulders with provincial leadership and belted out battle cries (after the ceremony), as preparations for the 2026 FASU Games gather momentum.
