ZEGU SEC President Clinton Nyabadza, who was a member of the 2026 Moot Society Bootcamp Competition winning team, Harvey Spector, expressed joy for fending off stiff competition from the other nine participating teams, while also admitting that 'it wasn't a walk in the park'.

Annually, the Moot Society of Zimbabwe hosts the Boot camp competition for students studying law from the five accredited universities, in Zimbabwe.

These include the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU), University of Zimbabwe (UZ), Midlands State University (MSU), Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) and Africa University, respectively.

The boot camp unifies all five law schools across the country to promote oral advocacy, legal research, and mooting excellence.

Students were tutored on court etiquette, case analysis, and persuasive advocacy through structured academic programmes and competitions.

Speaking to the ZEGU media crew, Nyabadza relished the competition and award saying, "The competition was stiff to say the least.

"All the teams that came to Masvingo were well-prepared, articulate and passionate. It (competition) pushed us to sharpen our arguments and stay on our toes.

"However, we (team Harvey Spector) believed in our preparation. We didn't focus on winning during the preliminary rounds. We focused on being excellent advocates.

"I think that mindset is what carried us through," said a jubilant Nyabadza.

Furthermore, Nyabadza praised the relevance of the boot camp towards the developments of legal personnel.

"The best lesson was that advocacy is 70% preparation and 30% delivery.

"At the end of it all, discipline won us the competition," he added.

The six-day intensive advocacy training featured practical sessions on courtroom etiquette, legal argumentation, and mentorship from distinguished legal practitioners.

ZEGU was represented by 7 students at the boot camp.

The Moot Society of Zimbabwe Bootcamp competition ran from the 20th - 25th July 2026, in Masvingo.
