REQUIREMENTS
NORMAL ENTRY
To be admitted to the Bachelor of Arts Honours Social Work, applicants should have 5 ‘O’ Level passes or equivalent including English Language and Mathematics and at least 2 A Level passes.
Clean criminal record in line with the Social Workers Act (27:21) is also a must.
SPECIAL ENTRY
Special entry will be
considered for applicants with a Certificate or Diploma in Social Work from
recognized institutions of higher learning or its equivalent as well as 5 ‘O’
Level passes or equivalent including English Language and Mathematics. Clean

EXEMPTION
REQUIREMENTS
The following students may apply for exemption from part of the courses of a programme:
Those students who have
done courses on the same level as their programme of entry from other
recognized universities or colleges approved by ZEGU as having similar bodies
of knowledge and units /credits. Students who qualify for exemption shall be
required to take other courses in place of the ones they are exempted.
CAREER PROSPECTS
Social work offers a broad range of services at the federal, state and local levels. The degree programme prepares students for career options in government agencies, community centres, schools, hospitals, mental health clinics and career centres administrative or research positions with public, private or non-governmental organisations as: research officers, gender officers, project planners and implementers, agents in aid organisations, social welfare officers, local government officials, civic educators, district administrators, youth officers, and project managers, among others.
